Group training offers a dynamic training opportunity for four or more athletes. At the first training session, each athlete’s abilities are assessed. Once all players’ strengths and weaknesses are identified, a unique training program is created to hone each individual’s skills. Group training is small enough to be flexible and personal, yet large enough to simulate game-like conditions. By growing and learning with and from each other, all athletes’ development and confidence flourishes.
An athlete’s success is measured by his or her performance come game-time. Therefore, SMP concentrates not only on enhancing a player’s skills, but on transferring these skills to a game environment. Group training is a perfect vehicle to strengthen individual and team skills and practice the application of these skills with other players. SMP’s training is divided into three areas of focus: skill development, game-related activities, and game simulation. The dominant concentration in SMP’s group training sessions is on ball movement, spacing, and game understanding. Group training results in all players working together, via collaborative, competitive, or individual drills, to become better athletes.
Throughout a training program, SMP reevaluates all athletes’ abilities. Continuous customized changes are made to further advance each player’s progression. Hence, SMP does not utilize a one-size-fits-all training model. Instead, we recognize that the most efficient and effective training centers upon identifying and working on personal deficiencies. The comfortable setting of group training provides the perfect environment for athletes to seek clarification and receive in-depth explanations regarding unknown terms, player formation, proper technique, or any other uncertainties.
SMP remains in constant communication with each athlete and his or her parents. Quantifiable benchmarks of high-detail are used to track an athlete’s progress. While player progression is shared with each athlete and his or her parents, this data is also compiled within our own internal tracking system. SMP’s broad perspective on where its athletes stand spurs innovative and cutting-edge training techniques. Our goal is to make certain that each of our athletes learn the tools necessary to achieve his or her peak level of performance.
